His life should be known to all kids who play baseball so they know what a real hero is. Perhaps one day then, there might be another hero like him.
This is a fascinating, touching piece about an American icon who merits our admiration. Lou Gehrig's letters, posted by ESPN, are well worth reading. They give a rare window into the heart and soul of this athlete, his times, and his remarkable marriage. Kudos to the collector who shared these letters, and to ESPN for posting them in their original form.
